Road Passenger Authority of Western Province provides the service to approximately 3.7 million passengers every day. Therefore the WPRPTA has a significant responsibility to protect the rights of those passengers. While WPRPTA is the most complicated transport-related entity in the country. WPRPTA was established as an authority in May 1992 under the Provincial Council ACT. WPRPTA Major Duty is regulating and supervising passenger transportation within the western province. WPRPTA has issued 6500 route permits for passengers’ transportation among 455 routes within in western province.

Monitoring their operations is being done by Time Keepers’ records and road inspection fleet. Issuing and maintaining passenger service route permits allowing the use of Buses for passenger transport service at a satisfactory level focus on passenger satisfaction is the key role of WPRPTA. Ensure that passenger service route permits are issued with certain conditions. Issue and enforce orders to ensure passenger safety and comfort.
